Jobs
Apparently, people have come up with some other job they want us dogs to do for them: cancer detection.

Topsy Turvy Days
We went to Pennsylvania this weekend and saw Diane and Ed and Penny. We had a lot of fun. The ride up and back is more cramped than it used to be. I had to share the back seat with Anton. He's so small, I don't know why he needs to use up 2/5ths of the space. I prefer to stretch out in the middle. Penny and I had a great time, though there were some disagreements on pecking order. For instance, Anton is my person, but the house is Penny's, and people pay as much attention to babies as they do dogs or at least they do now that he holds his head up and rolls over and stuff like that. Obviously, if you're going to fuss With the baby, you should fuss with the dogs too. So, in Penny's house who gets first dibs if people are paying attention to the baby and not us?
Yesterday, everyone went "back to work." Anton must go to "work" as well, but I don't know what he does there. I had the house to myself, which is cool, and not. Then, this morning, Joe and Anton went to work, but Katie stayed home. What's up with that? She went to bed, and I went to bed, and we're both minding our own business. I vaguely recall we used to do things like this occassionally, at least when everyone went back to work, but this is weird.
Last night I was feeling out of sorts about the whole thing, or maybe it was the cooking on the stove top. At least the fire alarm didn't go off. I decided to go sit under the little coffee table. Katie said something about Penny having a crate, and how most people have a rule you don't bother the dog in the crate, and maybe I need my own space where I don't get bothered. I like to go under the dining room table, but some times Joe follows me there. Which is cool and all, because I like the attention, but sometimes I'm sleeping. I had a crate once before. They'd lock me in it when they went out of the house when I first lived here. I don't know if I want a crate again. Under the kitchen table would be nice. But, Katie and Joe said something about that might be to much space. I suspect, like all things, this has to do with Anton. I think they want to give me the space under the coffee table. Katie put one of my blankets under the coffee table, and pretty much used up all the space so you hardly fit. Joe folded up the blanket, nice and neat and moved the magazine rack so I fit better. I thought he was going to take the blanket away altogether so I tried to stand on it. But, he folded it up and stuck it under the table. So, I went under the table and squished it around until I was happy with it and hung out there for a while.

Eating
Anton has his chair at the table. This morning they gave Anton food at the table. I lined up for a turn, but was denied. What's next?

And you give, And you give yourself away
Treats! Lay down? I'll assume the position before I even hit the floor. You know what'd be better though? Just giving them to me!

Ginger-Bard
My people went to the theater and all I got was this stinkin' cookie.

Kitchen Stuff
Anton got a spoon to play with, and a cup thing. I'm not supposed to have those, but he gets them as toys.

Morning Walk
Katie took me for my morning walk for the first time in I do not know how long. We went past a house with a giant animal sculpture. An "eliphant." I didn't like it. It was very odd and the eyes were not right. I took a look at it and decided it was best to move on. Very creepy.
We got home and as soon as Katie let me off the leash I ran around the house looking for Joe.

Carpeting
Having a carpet upstairs is nice. When you get sick, it's much more convenient.
Jump, Jump
I don't know who Herbie the wonder dog is, but I liked it much better when Rolando was mistaken for me, than I was mistaken for Herbie. Apparently, Herbie's people actually let him go in to the school yard, instead of just walk around, and then let him off the leash like the other dogs. Supposedly, my people don't do this, because of some sign that says dogs must be leashed on school property, but all the other dogs are doing it. We walked by and someone wanted to know if I was Herbie. Then someone else wanted to know if I was the brindle dog that jumps so high? Not me. Turns out, she was thinking of Herbie too.

Vacation all I ever wanted
Last weekend was at Dog-ma. It snowed! I like going there with all the other dogs. On Sunday, a nice man left some pizza out for me. I was sure to thank him before I left with Katie.
Monday, there was still lots of snow and Joe threw me snowballs and I ate them. In the evening the smoke detector went off in the house. I really didn't like that. I didn't like going in the kitchen with the cooking the nighit before, but I really didn't like the smoke detector. It makes a loud scary noise. I know I've heard it before, but this was just really horrible and you could hardly get away. Just when I was almost relaxed, it went off again. Joe got my dinner for me, but I hardly wanted to go near it, because it was by the stove. I was avoiding the kitchen, but then there were liver treats and those are the best.
