Worse than a halti?

I forgot, there is something worse to have on your face than a halti. Cobwebs. Ugh. I looked around and there was no grass, so I wiped my face all over Katie's legs. Rather convenient, that was. I didn't even have to bend all the way down.

Kong

I got a Kong today! On Saturday, we visited S, a black lab that lives with some of Katie and Joe's friends. She had this cool kong toy stuffed with peanut butter. She didn't finish it so I did. Katie's friend said that since I was eating the kong for two hours that obviously she had to get one for me.

I got the Kong when Katie started eating her dinner. Get this, she made the dinner and then threw it away. She said that the tuna fish was to fishy, the noodles were undercooked and crunchy. I ate a bag of noodles on Sunday, and I can tell you with certainty that there is nothing wrong with crunchy noodles. She said it was not at all what she expect. I bet it is everything I'd expect and more.

At least I've got my Kong.

Catch Up

Just a few things to catch you up on what's been going on in my world. We just got back from our short end of the day walk. There was this guy, and he was screaming at a tree. No kidding. Apparently, he thinks he's all down with the hood or something, but Katie figures he's some kid from the suburbs who needs either a) to chill, b) medication, or c) to stop self-medicating. I was going ready to tell him in no uncertain terms that he needed to clear off, but Katie to leave it alone.

Well, in reverse order. On the way home they were putting off fireworks. Again. The booth is gone, but they still have them. I do not like fireworks. Plus, they were putting them off in one of my cat watching spots.

At the park, we saw little D. D's about 4 months old and great fun. Joe and I met him last week and we played a long time. He's a lot of fun. I didn't feel good, got some decent trash can pickings today, so I didn't play with the other dogs, but I stopped for D.

Thursday I went to the vet and they gave me a bath. I tried licking the lady. People really go in for that, and see if she'd let me out, but she wasn't buying it.

Last Tuesday, I went back to that Dogma place, like Joe said I would. What a day that was. Katie picked me up and I was so tired when I got home I went straight to bed.

Gotta go, I'm very busy right now barking at anything that will move.

Dissed

Yesterday, I was so dissed. First, they went to the cemetery without me. What's with that? That's my place to hang out, and they didn't take me. I could smell it in the dirt all over their clothes. Then, they went out and stayed out late. Not a little late, really, really, late and they locked me out of the bedroom so I couldn't go to bed properly.

I've also noticed, and, this is an ongoing problem, that while my food is stored in the basement, their food is in a humongous bin and they eat from it all the time. They don't share, and only give me mine twice a day.

Yesterday

Yesterday was a very odd day. Joe came home at lunch time and took me for a walk. Katie took me for a walk on Tuesday at lunch time (I wasn't feeling good). Lunch time walks are something I could get used to. Then we went to this place called Dog-Ma and that was so great. There were 4 dogs there I got to play with for a while. Then Joe left, and that was sort of weird. I don't like it when he leaves, and usually I go for a nap, but I wasn't at home. But, after a while I found out there were around 50 dogs there!! We played all afternoon. Then Joe came back and we walked home. Apparently, I was being "interviewed" and there was a long application to fill out, but they decided that I pass. Supposedly, I'm going back last week.

Oh, I almost forgot. Get this - you don't have to wear a collar. How great is that?

Last night's walk

Three women and a little girl walk down the street.
One woman to the other: blah, blah, bl, blah, bla, bl, bla, blah
Little girl: a dog, a dog!
One woman to the little girl: SMACK.
Little girl: wail.
One woman to the other: She gettin' on my nerves.

Blog Setup
We got most of the comments back. We cut and paste them into the comment system that got added to the blogspot system, after we added the other one. So, there's only one thing to click on for comments now. We also added a link to the RSS feed, for the one request we had to do that.

At the Park
There was a man at the park dragging a big tree branch. I don't know why. M. didn't like him and was barking. So, I barked too. No one was very happy about that. A person said that we have to be very careful around the visitors or else the people who run the cemetery get upset and it might cause problems with being able to play here. I'd been trying to play with M and Bb before, but they didn't want to so we kept going and left those people behind.

Then we found lots of other dogs to play with including an Afghan puppy who is taller than me. We were running around and chasing her. It was fun. It was hot so I stopped. Then the Afghan let loose a pitiful cry and everyone ran to go see, even the people. She seemed okay, but didn't want to get up. All of us dogs sat there and watched. Her people fussed at her. Then she got up and after a while could run around again, so that was good. But, none of the people much felt like hanging around after that, so must of the other dogs went home.

I like A and Bb because they like to run around. Bb is a poodle. A. is a little younger than me, some kind of shepherd mix I guess and a lot of fun.

Sigh
Why is there a "Pets Need Dental Care, Too." brochure on my futon curl up spot? This doesn't bode well.

Can't find good help these days
It's come to my attention that the scribe has wiped out the comments of my loyal readers, while "playing" with the settings. All playing should be with me, preferably wrestling, and not with the settings We should figure out how to get them back "later" and if not, the comments back to May 20th were collected and she'll be adding those back. At least now there aren't two 'comment' fields.

P.S. I do not have the profile of a Hynerian when viewed from the rear in a sitting position, and I resent the implication.

No
No chasing the motorcycles.
No chasing the dump trucks.
No chasing construction equipment.
No chasing tow trucks.
No chasing utility trucks.
No chasing giant circular saws for cutting concrete.

The ball pales in comparison.

Grooming
I'll have you know that I spend hours every day grooming myself. People spend 20 minutes tops most days doing some activity that resembles grooming. So, where do you come off soaking me in the shower, rubbing stuff on to me, and calling it "getting clean." You know, you could at least let me keep the towel.

I am Bird Dog!
I got one! I got one! I didn't get to keep it. But, I got one! A bird. [Maybe a robin, a female one, the other bird nearby was definitely a robin.] We were running around the cemetery and I stopped to stretch out in some long grass that still had dew on it. Very nice for cooling off, and when I started to get up I spotted some birds. I pounced, it lifted, I snapped, I got it. Then Katie made me drop it. I tried to go back for it, but she wouldn't let me. She wouldn't let me keep the pizza crust I found earlier in the day either. The some other dogs came along and I played with them.

[I should've let him keep it a touch longer. It of course was not dead. I started to step on its head to sort of finish it off "humanely" instead of leaving it lie there. But, I lost my nerve. I don't like to even step on big bugs because of the cracking noise they make and the feel. Them someone else came by and I didn't want them to see me stepping on the bird, which in retrospect was kind of silly. Then when I checked it again, it was dead, thank goodness. - Katie]

4th of July
Yesterday we went to a parade. The Marine Band played with lots of drums, there were fire engines, and some motorcycles that I really wanted to chase after. Some dogs were in the parade, but we couldn't visit them. Other dogs were watching the parade with their people, but their people wouldn't let them visit. Two kids were starting to fight, and not by the right rules, so I was going to break them up, but got told not to, and I think my barking did the trick anyway.
