Table?
Anton brought me home a stick the other day. That was cool. This morning he tried to put a blanket on me. That was odd. Like when he tried to balance his puzzle on my back. Sometimes its trucks.

Snack time

When someone asks you "would you like to give Grady a snack" and hands you a dog biscuit, while I generally wouldn't mind the chunk of beef you've been hording in your mouth since lunch time, I'd also like you to give me the biscuit.

Chipmunks and other recent adventures

I found two squeaky toys on the kitchen counter. I think they've been holding out on me, because these match the 1 I've had for a while that doesn't squeak. Anton brought them over to me this morning, like he was giving them to me. I took them from him, because they are mine but I thought the whole thing was a little weird.

Last week, Anton was putting his puzzles on my back, like I'm some kind of walking table. Whatever, I just ignored it like I usually do.

On Top of Old Meatball
The dinner plate settles on to the table with a thump. Knife and fork are made ready. With ever so slightly to much pressure the meatball is cut and half launches off the plate away from the table. Mighty dog leaps into action and saves the carpet from the known horrors of staining as he swoops in and snaps up the meatball before it ever hits the ground.

But you can call me sir
Someone asked Katie if she was the lady with the bull master. Sweet.

What I did over my summer vacation
You might think I haven't done anything lately, but I've been rather busy. I have this cool 20 sided ball. And, there's this cool little stuffed mouse in Anton's room that I'm trying to claim for myself. Anton has a whole box of stuffed toys, so I think I can have this one.

In August, Anton, Katie, and I went to Pennsylvania. I played with Penny all weekend. It was great, because I caught a groundhog. If you ask Penny, she'll say we caught it, and I'll go along so we can keep playing and she won't pout, but I got it. Ed took it, but I caught it. Diane actually thought I was stuck under the deck. That was kind of funny. I thought Ed just wanted to play with the ground hog at first, because he got a rake and tugged at it, so I grabbed it and tugged back. I got it. But, then when he turned the hose on me, it didn't seem so fun anymore. I guess he thought I'd give up the groundhog, but I'd much rather have my ground hog even if it means getting soaking wet. He got it though. So, I had gone to see Penny, but she wouldn't talk to me. I had to make up to her a lot.

Anyway, that was probably one of the best things that happened all summer.

July
I know, you haven't heard from me in a while. I need help to do this, and Anton gets all the time. Finally, 4th of July came and went. No more explosions. Except the other day, that took me by surprise, I thought that was all done. 4th of July is the worse day of the year. This year there were so many people in the house, it was crazy.

At the end of the month there was a heat wave. It was so horrible to be outside. I almost got a cat though. It was in a heat stupor or something. I almost had it by the scruff of the neck and then Joe yanked my leash and I had to back off.

Joe went away for a while and Katie and Anton and I went to Penny's house at the end of the month. But, I'll write more about that later.

It's the most wonderful time of the year
Yep, it's fly season again. When all those litle protein snacks with wings come out to play. Though, that last one I noticed seemed pretty big. I pounced, and missed. It ran and hid under the kitchen sink maybe. I sniffed and lost it. But, mostly I like to watch and pounce - got it. There's something about the windows and doors that are really attractive. You can hear them buzz, and hit the glass and stun themselves. Then, you know you have them.

Whatever
You act like no ones ever peed on your foot before. Really, what's the problem? It happens all the time.

If you want something to get put out about, how about the other day when I caught that cat. Seriously, I had it. It was mine. Until you pulled on my collar, giving it a chance to get away. It was on the porch. It was just asking to be caught. It must have been asleep. But, being in the corner, with the hose box on the other side, it was pinned on three sides and then I had the only exit covered. Until you pulled the chain. Did you hear the racket that thing made. It was so mine.

Somebody's been playing in my bowl, and it wasn't me!

I think that says it all.

Gates

They put a gate on Anton's room. It's like the cemetery, but I can do it myself most of the time. It took me a few minutes to figure out how it works. Sometimes they have it locked and I can't go in. As long as they don't do it to option, that's okay. One time I didn't figure out how it works, and they hadn't forced me to go to bed at the usual time (I don't always want to, you know), and decided I was happy where I was so went back to sleep in Anton's room. I like the carpet there anyway. I like my usual bed too, but now that it's getting warmer out, sometimes I want to spread out a little more on the cool floor.

P.S. Diane visited Wednesday. She brought treats. She didn't bring them right away. First she brough about five or six bags of stuff for Anton! She said my treats were in there somewhere, but didn't find them until later.

P.P.S. Thursday morning Katie and Diane gave Anton some of their break food. It was like they were synchronized, they both grabbed some and put it on his tray! They didn't give me anything. It was stunning.

Another Day
All I wanted was a short walk, but first a little short breed dog had to sniff at me, Mojo had to say hello, I did like where the short dogs person said hello to me, but then Katie had to ask if he was a neighbor, and a bunch of kids had to pet me. I like to be pet, but I really wanted my walk since Katie got home late and I suspected it would be a short walk. Which it was.

So, here were some other interesting things that happened recently:
* I think they've been holding out on me with the birthday biscuits that Jody made me. Every once in a while I get another one from them.
* Some Marines were playing with these funny little cars that they ran through little boxes. They made loud noises on the hill side and were very odd.
* There was someone playing a horn instrument (that's what I'm told it was) in a tower on the Marine barracks. earlier in the day the flag above the tower was making giant cracking noises.
* There are lots of people playing "softball" in the feild down the street. Sometimes there are machines making whumping noises. Sometimes they have games.

Huh?
Some guys asked Katie if she was "trying to sell her dog." As if.

Cemetery in the NY Times
If you want to see where I play, go quick to the NY Times and watch a video they made about it (you'll probably have to pick it from a list, it's titled Visting Congressional Cemetery). I don't know how long it will last. A few of my friends are in the video.

In other notes. I think if people don't want me going to the bathroom in the house, they might not leave me locked up in the house all day when I'm not feeling well. I got better fast though - just in time to find a collection of ham bones in the trash. Score!

Grady Liberation Day
We had my liberation day. I got a big lamb bone. It had a chunk of meat with it. I ate the meat first. Then I took the bone to the living room and ate the whole thing, even the crumbs, because it was that good.
